Paul MacCready Came Over for Coffee This Morning
I had coffee this morning with Paul. Fascinating guy - designer of the Gossamer Condor, which won the Kremer Prize for human-powered flight, and many other things. Of course, Paul past last summer, but thanks to the TED talks I was able to spend 20 minutes with him today.
Among other things, he describes his original motivation for working on the Gossamer Condor [you’ll never guess], shows videos of some of his work, and talks about nature vs. humans, something he was very passionate about.
Parts if the video are actually hysterical, in this very deadpan, sliderule-carrying, aerodynamicist sort of way. So grab a cup, open the video to full-screen so you can see the slides he presents, and sit back and have a coffee with Paul, at TED 2003.
